Review
It didn’t work for me – I returned it – but it might work for you. I bought this for my truck having bought https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0855GMKMD/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o04_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 (a rearview mirror dashcam) for my car and loved it – but the truck needs multiple cameras. I want this product to work for hitching up, and rearview, and rear-view behind the trailer I’m pulling.,
good:
you can put a camera on the trailer and wire it through the hitch up, using two cables so you can disconnect the camera when you unhitch the trailer. Camera works through 90 ft of cable.
cameras and connections are very rugged.
Not wifi – no flicker.single wire wiring
OK
The picture on rearview mirror dashcam is simply gorgeous. This one is poor by comparison, but it does the job.
only 1 camera (#2)has reversing guides (not adjustable). The camera is triggered by 12V applied to a signal wire, that you’d expect to a reversing light, but the wire you have to connect to is at the wrong end of the cable – near the monitor, not the reversing camera. Tough to wire up.
Bad
Cameras are huge. Lots of surface to get knocked. Mounting over the registration plate obscures the number.
Connections are half-inch thick. Tough to hide under the panelling if you need to.
The monitor feels 2 or 3 generations of technology behind the times. It is “clunky”. The buttons have no feedback. Takes seconds to turn on. no “on” light. Changing cameras causes the screen to blank for several seconds. It has lots of screen layouts but repeatedly pressing the Mode button to switch modes is tedious. 7 buttons, but all the function in one button. Bad user interface design. (compared to rearview mirror dashcam, which smoothly and instantly switches cameras by touch-screen).
Remote control is really cheap trash, and battery-not-included.
“mirrored” is a fixed function of each camera, so only two cameras can point backwards without a very confusing picture.
Almost no instructions, and the instructions that are there to apply to a slightly different product. (The diagram points to where there is a port on the product, but labels it a button). I have no idea what the port is for, or the one next to it)
I have no idea how to mount the panel. There is a butterfly shaped metal bracket, with a screw connector, and a butterfly sticky, that appear to require a flat surface on the dashboard. My truck doesn’t have a flat surface, let alone one where I want to mount the panel. But there’s nothing on the monitor to screw the bracket into. May be there is under the covers, but there’s no instructions on how to open it.
Ugly
One camera lost its red signal within minutes of connecting it. (see picture – CH3)
Monitor panel turned off on its own in the middle of the first journey, and would not come back on again.
Even though the panel would not turn on it drained the truck’s dual batteries in 3 days.
Support was offered by Amazon and the seller, and no doubt these problems might have been fixed, but the product has too many deficiencies for me.
