Running teams isn’t half bad when it’s Drop & Hook Dedicated runs (terminals only)

I did the math deducting Per Diem Daily Meal Deductions ($69 per day) and 24% CA State/Federal taxes for my case (1 Allowance) at $0.43 CPM for a 65 MPH truck (I-5 Corridor) it comes out to $354 daily net income.

The only real problem is having a lazy AF codriver that gives you the truck on empty fuel so you have to stop within 2 hours of driving and basically burn a 30 minute break waiting at the truck stop. There's no excuses since we have fuel at the terminals, the run can be completed without going to a truck stop.

As long as both drivers can agree on a halfway point to switch so that they're not picking up and dropping doubles twixe but the runs are long enough we have to switch anyways. They wouldn't give a team truck short runs unless it's to prevent bringing an empty all the way back, usually a set of doubles to Sacramento then they give you an empty 53'

I could go on with the negatives with the human aspect but remember no person is worth doing 20 years to life in prison. Call your boss, record on video anything. I had a guy melt down on me because I had to go home early and he started driving reckless and swerving the truck making me fall around the sleeper. I took the keys at the terminal and gave it to the office, booked an Uber to the yard to go home. We park the trucks at a different location not where the trailers/terminals are. I was just a fill-in codriver as a favor for a different contractor. I could see why that asshole couldn't keep a partner.
