How’s it going fellow drivers I hope everyone is having a safe week. If you’re fortunate enough to have a 3day weekend I hope you enjoy the well deserved time off.
My question to everyone is, is O/O worth it in the end dump business? Located in In, pick up material from IN, IL, and MI. I’m a company guy (non union) Two years in with my CDL, about 16mo with end dumps. The work seems to be real consistent, slows down in winter but we still haul salt.
I have already bought a truck and trailer, and planning to get rolling 2025. But trynna list the pros and cons…
Pros
-A lot better pay
-Pick/choose loads
-Better equipment
-Make own hours
Cons
-You pay for everything
-Finding work/Brokers
I only ask cause it is a risk, but also a few unions are taking applicants near me this year. Lineman are taking applications, and so are the heavy equipment operators.
