Is this worthy of a “preventable accident” on my record?

I bent the release handle while coupling and my Driver Leader made me call claims then i received a letter in the mail stating that i have a accident on my record for 7 years. My co-worker at Schneider broke his whole bumper off hitting something, and they didn’t put a preventable accident on his record so I’m confused as to why this has to go on my record when i didn’t hit anything. I just applied for marten transport and they denied me, they wouldn’t give me a reason why so I’m assuming they said no because of this on my record, is my career basically over, unless i want to stay at Schneider for the rest of my life?
