I originally gave a 5 star review, and really liked the headset. You can find that review, after the two updates below. Now, if I can give it 1/2 star I would.
Update Two – August 24, 2023 –
I have now had the headset for 8 months.
First – I sent the seller a message nearly two months ago (June 28,2023) about issues with charging. I figured out a way to work around that, and it was by placing the headset in the cradle, and having the headband base on the other side, sitting on a usb charger connected to my power strip, to make sure that the charging contacts come into contact with the charger.
Second – The headset has now fallen apart. The material over the ear piece is very thin, and easily comes off the headset. The material is attached by glue that is more gooey then a glue, in a small ring around the ear piece, and over the last three days, it has torn all the way around the ear piece. I am now trying to figure out a way to re-attach the material to the headset.
Even if I email the seller again, it is highly doubtful that I will get a response. If I do get a response, I will update the review, but doubtful
Update One – June 28, 2023
The headset has now stopped charging. When placed in the cradle, the charging light will blink once or twice then stop and there is no charge. It is also now disconnecting from my laptop (something it never did before), restarting the headset, and it will reconnect.
I have reached out to the selller, but have not heard anything in return.
If you are looking for a headset that will last 6 months, then this one is for you. If you are looking for something that will last longer, look elsewhere.
If I hear anything from the seller, I will update this review.
Initial Review –
First – there is an offer in the box, for something about possibly getting a free headset, if you provide your email address and Amazon order number. I have not done that, and do not think I will (do not care for my email addy possibly being sold)
I have been using this for work for about a ten days so far, and I am pleasently surprised. My other head seat finally died after about three years of use. With the other one on its slow death, I decided to get a wireless headset. I had been looking at them previously and all I really saw with positive reviews were $150 to $200. When I came across this one at just under $60, and read the reviews, I decided to give it a try. My criteria was comfort, sound quality (both receiving and sending), battery life, one ear only, works well with Teams, and connectivity to my laptop (both ease and distance).
Battery life – the fourth day I had these, I ended up on a call that lasted over 16 hours, and there was no issue with the headset. When we got done with the call, I charged them for about 3 hours, and we were back to work for another 16+ hours.
Comfort – I work for a global company in the IT field, and spend 10 hours or so, on Teams calls each day, so the comfort was just as important as the sound quality. Previous reviewers mentioned the stiffness of the band across the top of the head. The manuf must have listened to the complaints, and changed their design. The one I received is a relatively flexible metal strip, that easily expands some to allow a good fit. They were comfortable for 16+ hours for two days in a row.
Sound quality – In the Teams calls, I have asked others how it sounded and everyone has told me that I am coming across clearly. As far as receiving, it is better then the logitech headset I had previously. I like the fact that it is single ear, as I have a hearing deficiet in both ears. One is about 50% and the other one is some what better, When I have both ears covered, I can barely hear anything around me, and with it just on one ear, I am able to hear my surrondings. The Mic Boom is rigid, so you cannot adjust it for me it sits about three inches from my cheek, but according to co-workers, it sounds fine. Adjusting the volume up and down, is simple with controls on the ear piece.
Connectivity and distance – Getting them to pair directly to the bluetooth in my laptop was very simple. They also include a USB dongle in case you do not have bluetooth natively. I did not test that. For the distance, my house is approximately 2k sq ft ranch style, with my office in one end, and the kitchen and garage in the other (distance from office to kitchen is about 50 feet). On the calls last week, I was able to walk around the whole house, kitchen, garage, bathroom, … without losing connectivity.
For Teams – worked with no problem. If someone calls you, you will hear it ring in the headset, but you cannot answer it. Not a big deal for me, the only time I get unexpected Teams calls is during the day, and my phone is always in my pocket or hand, so I answer it on my mobile, and then transfer the call to my laptop.
I also tested this with my iPhone, pairing was easy, sound was good on regular calls, as well as across WhatsApp.
Cons – the only one that I have seen so far is the Mute function. The button to mute is located on the inside of the mic boom, down near the mic. It is easy to find, and when you turn it on, you will hear it say “Mute On” or “Mute off”, and there is a red light that comes on. The Con is, the red light is on the outside of the boom, so not visible, unless you either look in a mirror, take them off and check, or click the button again to verify what state it is in. It would be better if the red light was on the mic boom, someplace you can see it with a glance at the boom. It does not mute via the Teams application, so watch out, you can double mute yourself and not know it.
I will update this review if I find an issue with the headset.
3 month update – I have been using these headphones for nearly three months, with no issues. I have been on several calls that lasted over 24 hours, without any issues with the battery life. On these calls they have been as comfortable as anything that was covering your ear for 24+ hours.
The only issue I have had, which is not the fault of the headset, but me – I forget that I have paired my cell phone, and I do not hear the ringer of my cell
