Losuudy Wired Backup Camera for Truck RV Trailer Bus, 10.1″ Full Touch Screen Monitor, Truck Camera System, 3 Rear View & Side View Camera, 4 Spilt Screen, IP68 Waterproof, Night Vision, DVR, 1080P
The camera comes packed in a plain brown suitcase-style box. Opening the box, you have three smaller boxes of white cardboard that have the individual pieces of the kid in it. One box has wire and cable connectors. It looks like they have included some pretty long lengths for the video cable, which is a good thing because depending on what vehicle you’re putting it in, you might need quite some long cable.
A second small box has the camera itself and mounting brackets. Please note, this is a hard wire system, you will have to run a cable all the way from the camera to wherever you mount the monitor. Looking at the camera, I like the design of it. It has three screws that hold down a mounting plate with an eyeball-style camera inside that is movable, not movable automatically, but movable manually when you’re setting up the image view. Looking further, through the camera box, there are two of these eyeball-style cameras and one square mount camera, for a total of three cameras in the kit. I haven’t found the instructions yet, but it would be really cool if you could set up all three cameras on one vehicle to give yourself multiple views.
The third and largest box inside the package has the monitor and some more wires, and the instruction booklet. The monitor has a sturdy plastic case around it, and is just a little bit deeper than your average tablet would be. Be. Appears that the brackets for that are in the box with all the cables. There is also a small box containing an SD card, 64 gig worth of storage..
When I ordered this, I didn’t read the fine print closely enough, and I didn’t realize that it came with three cameras. Bonus! The squarish one is a backup camera, to mount somewhere in the middle of your vehicles. Vehicles rear, and two roundish cameras are side view cameras which explains why there are so many video cables in the box, you’ll have to run a video line for each camera. The instructions mention four channels worth of hookups for the monitor, but the channel one camera is grayed out. They don’t mention if that’s available to purchase separately, should you need that fourth camera but it is not in the package. This comes with the single backup camera and two side view cameras. The camera comes with a power adapter so you can hardwire it directly into your vehicle’s power, or use the included cigarette lighter adapter, and case it’s not convenient to hook into main power
How involved the actual insulation is well depend on what vehicle you’re putting it in. If you want to run everything all sleek and hide the wires, it’ll take a little bit of labor pulling up panels and such to run the wiring. If you want, you can do like I’m doing and just run the wires inside the vehicle on top of things and just secure them down.
The side view cameras can be hard mounted with screws or you can use a strong double stick tape, like a 3M emblem adhesive. I would recommend buying the 3M stuff myself, as I have some experience with it and it works very well.
Once you get everything installed, you can get into the programming on the monitor and change the brightness of the monitor as well. Calibrate the camera formats and whether or not you’re using the reverse trigger. The reverse trigger is a single line that hooks into the backup light circuit, so if you set it up that way, the camera will automatically come on anytime it’s in reverse. I plan on using the always on option so that you can see the camera and your trailer at all times. You can also calibrate the angles of the guidelines for reversing via the side cameras. It’s all in the monitor itself, so to me it seems more and more that the monitor is much like a tablet, without tablet style functions. Functions. It’s a little computer in its own right.
When you have the SD card installed, the monitor will automatically record all the video inputs as separate files. You can tell the difference between the separate camera feeds by the suffixes and the colors of the readout.
The monitor also can engage a parking monitoring option, which you can turn on manually and the cameras will continue to record video even when you turn off the vehicle and exit. This kit comes with a 64 gig SD card, but the instructions say that the camera will support up to 128 gig.
