There is an initial “just add water” setup to change the dry powder to gel, then you throw them in the freezer for several hours and they are ready for use.—How long do these packs stay frozen for?—Many factors can determine how long the packs will last. Some of them are: quantity of packs to the size of the cooler, number of items in cooler relative to the cooler size, the temperature of cooler when packs are introduced, the temperature of cooler contents the packs are put in, ambient temperature, and how often cooler is opened/closed.—Is it necessary to freeze for 24 hrs each time you reuse them or just for the initial time?—No, it is not necessary to freeze 24 hours every time. We recommend it for the first freeze. If the pack is still cold or frozen in the center after your first use, it requires less freezing time for subsequent uses.Can these be stored outside the freezer between uses? –They can be stored in the freezer or they can be laid flat and stored in a cool dry place. Just keep them out of reach from kids or dogs.
