This device is new to me. I have not used this device long enough to fairly comment about the device itself; neither device quality, nor ease of use. I have spent enough time to read the manual and to learn how to use the device. I can comment that the manual is poor. After spending hours to read the manual and to try on the device, I still barely know it.
First of all, it appears to me that the manual did not go through proof reading. Right on the front page, it indicates the model. But the word “model” is misspelled. The letter ‘l’ is missing. Or, they write: “How to found the rear cam recording file”. It should be written “find” rather than “found”. There are lots of other grammar and/or spelling errors. These simple errors contribute difficulty to understand, when there are too many. Moreover, the English is weird. [Disclosure: English is the 3rd language that I learned. I will not criticize too much people, whose mother language is not English.]
Second, the manual is not organized; neither content, nor structure. This device offers many settings to customize it to user needs. To help users to understand the device and to make use of it, the manual should be organized in logical order. Think of thought flow! I guess that most first-time users do not know what these parameters mean: loop recording, interval recording, wide dynamic range, fill light, switch sound, etc.
Third, there are things in the box, for which there is no explanation what they are for. For example, there is a blue stick, there is an adapter of some kind.
The manual writes: “For questions, support, or warranty claims, contact us at ssontong_service@163.com. We will reply you within 12 hours.” I sent 4 emails. All are returned. When the first email was returned, I assumed that the mail server has temporary problems. But, if it fails 4 times in 10 days, questions arise. Does the company still exist?
My suggestion to the management team of Ssontong: I assume that this product is good. If this product is good, you can do great favors to your designers and the company by improving the manual. It would not cost too much, because this is a small manual. But customers and potential customers are satisfied and that would improve the sale.
Disclosure: I hold the degree of Diplom Ingenieur from a German technical university. I have retired. My 30-years work time was entirely hands-on technical in high tech. Considering that background, if I have difficulty to understand the manual and to learn how to use the device, I guess it is more difficult for others. I would say that this manual is something like my lab notes during my design. I gave the lab notes to people who we called technical writers to create user manuals.
