Mobilizing Logistics to Aid Fire Relief Efforts

ALAN-California-Wildfires-Snapshot

alanaidlogo-2The devastating fires sweeping through Southern California have left countless families displaced and communities in dire need of help. The American Logistics Aid Network (ALAN) is stepping up to provide critical logistics support during this challenging time—and there are meaningful ways the Women In Trucking (WIT) community can contribute to the effort.

What’s Happening on the Ground

ALAN is actively working with non-profit partners to address the logistical challenges of fire relief. While generous donations of supplies have poured into affected areas, these contributions require sorting, warehousing, and transportation—services many local organizations aren’t equipped to manage on their own.

In response, ALAN is:

  • Providing just-in-time logistics guidance to relief organizations.
  • Hosting logistics coordination calls for non-profits. Join them for their next logistics call on Monday, January 13 at 3:30pm Eastern for non-profit organizations. Register Here
  • Sharing infrastructure updates on road closures, power outages, and curfews through its Disaster Microsite and Supply Chain Intelligence Center.

How You Can Help

The trucking and logistics community is uniquely positioned to make a significant impact. Here’s how you can get involved:

Offer Your Resources

If you have warehouse space, trucks, equipment, or other logistics capabilities, ALAN needs your support. Register your available resources to help ensure they can quickly match requests with available assistance. Learn More

Monitor ALAN’s Disaster Micro-Site

Visit ALAN’s Disaster Micro-Site regularly to stay informed about specific needs for fire relief efforts, as well as ongoing disaster recovery requests.

Make a Financial Contribution

Donations enable ALAN to continue offering logistics assistance critical for relief operations. Consider supporting their mission with a financial gift.

Avoid Sending Physical Supplies

While it’s tempting to donate items, survivors and relief organizations often lack the space to store them. Focus on contributing logistics capabilities or funding instead.

The Power of Our Community

The Women In Trucking community has always been a force for good in the transportation industry. Now, we have an opportunity to demonstrate the power of logistics in action. Together, we can help Southern California recover and rebuild by ensuring critical supplies reach those who need them most.

For more information on how to assist, visit ALAN’s Disaster Microsite or contact them directly to get involved.

Let’s harness our collective strength to make a difference.
