My Emotional Support Demon – Mazikeen

Mazikeen is my emotional support demon, whenever I have a bad day (pain-wise or emotionally) she waits until I’m sitting in bed and crawls onto my chest and sits there for anywhere from five minutes to half an hour. She’s the Hellraiser among her siblings, doing something bad is how she tells me she wants my attention.

I named her after Mazikeen from Lucifer, I wanted to name her after a badass and Lucifer had just released new episodes around the time I got her and her brother and siste. She totally lives up to her name! The other name I almost gave her was Lucretia, after Lucretia Merces from Suikoden V (she’s the game’s strategist), but I think Mazikeen fits her better, especially with the Hellfire Orange fur she has.

Mazikeen is the first cat I’ve ever had that plays fetch – She’ll get her favorite toy, jump on my bed and drop it next to me. When I throw it, she chases after it and brings it back every time until she gets tired of playing or Schrodinger/Katara steals the toy from her.

Finally, she reminds me so much of my first cat, a shorthair calico Persian named Belle. Belle always looked and sounded pissed off but was really affectionate towards people she liked. Mazikeen has the same coloring, attitude and angry sounding meows and is just as affectionate – As long as she’s the one asking for attention.
