Legality of Not Having ERG?

Two employers told me even if I don’t hail hazardous materials it is a hefty fine for not having this in reach from sitting in the driver seat. Yet only one of two employers provided the book.

I’ve been searching online for the truth behind this while I’ve still adhere to the advice given.

In fact not even a month in while working at Werner an officer pulled me over right in front the terminal and asked for it I didn’t have it but let me go.

You guys/gals know anything about this?
